The Scania R999 roadshow visited some of our branches on its way to the Johannesburg International Motor Show. The obvious first stop was Kwazulu Natal as the vehicle arrived at the Durban harbour in mid-August. The first road show was held at the Sibaya Hotel and Casino on the North Coast of Kwazulu Natal on 27 September and not even the in climate weather could dampen the spirit of our clients and the Svempa crew. The day was a huge success and more than 180 Scania clients attended the event with more than 70 non-clients joining us for some spectacular drifting and burnouts by Svempa himself. The second and third stop would be at our Alrode dealership for the Eastern and Southern clients on 29 and 30 September. On these two days we had great weather with higher than average autumn days of almost 30 degrees Celsius. These two days saw some clients winning the opportunity to get to drive side by side with the owner once again doing some burnouts and 0-100km/h runs down a closed street, which the Metro officers were gladly to assist us with. The two days did not go down without any headaches and after the show on the 29th we had to call in some quick tyre replacements as we really were having fun with the 1000Hp vehicle in South Africa. The vehicle was all washed up and on Monday 3 October the Scania head office staff was treated to a grand show by Svempas himself. The employees themselves were very impressed to be part of the Scania family as they got an opportunity to see what a bit of time and love can really bring out in a Scania. After an extensive day clean-up off the vehicle, it was destined for the Johannesburg International Motor Show a couple of kilometres from head office at the MTN Nasrec Showgrounds.
